Description
Sambucus nigra ‘Haidegg’ (Black Elder) is a vigorous, high-yielding Austrian cultivar selected specifically for fruit production. In late spring to early summer, it produces large, flat clusters of fragrant white flowers that attract pollinators and are ideal for making cordials and other drinks. From late August through September, ‘Haidegg’ bears exceptionally heavy crops of large, deep purple to black berries. These richly flavoured fruits are perfect for jams, jellies, syrups, and wines, while also providing an important food source for wildlife.
