Mission
Careys Secret Botanicals : A simple space for regeneration through horticulture.
This means redefining the Plant Nursery for the modern world. Customers want plants that don’t cost the earth, supporting wildlife and a healthier planet, contributing to society and above all plants that thrive in their gardens.
Our nursery came from humble beginnings when we took it over from previous commercial growers. Our mission was to revert it back into a organic space by getting back to the roots, improving the soil so we can grow beautiful plants.

What do you get when you buy from Careys Nursery?
We believe gardens hold the key to a healthier, wilder world. The small but mighty power of each of our gardens can bring together a tapestry of life for struggling species whilst giving pleasure and even feeding us. It also enables us to adapt to the changing of our climate and speed up the process of ecological adaption through rich and diverse plantings. What you’ll find at Carey is just that carefully curated and propagated plants that follow these guidelines :
Pollinators : UK is a nation of natural decline with 70% of pollinator species disappearing in as many years. Simple changes may harbour hope for pollinators and so we pick plants that support species. Sometimes that’s through flowers sometimes through habitat creation.
Perfume : Scent is underrated when it comes to plants in modern gardens. The secret language of plants is often through their fragrance and scent. The enjoyment we have of rich aromas is a key aspect of gardening for us and we want more people to relish it. In addition scent performs vital advertising to the natural world that your garden is open for business when it comes to wildlife.
Planet : The world is changing. We are experiment with new ways of planting to sequester carbon, accelerate regeneration and to adapt and encourage a more resilient landscape. Gardens can be our anchor points for a changing world.
They can show us changes and they can offer spaces for us to find hope and ways to overcome. We provide plants that can feed and sustain us and nature in a variety of ways.

People also ask
Are your plants peat-free?
Yes. At Careys Secret Botanicals we grow all of our plants from seed or cuttings from our own stock plants - completely peat-free and pesticide-free.
Can I get advice on what to plant?
Yes. We're always happy to help. If you're visiting the gardens please have a chat with one of our friendly gardening team, or you can email us your questions to nursery@careyssecretgarden.co.uk.
Where is your plant nursery located?
Alongside the small nursery at the garden, we have a larger off-site nursery between Corfe Castle and Studland. This nursery isn't open for visits but we bring the plants we've been growing and nurturing to the gardens when they're ready to be sold. This is also where we pack and send your online orders.
Do you sell plants year-round?
Yes. At Careys we focus on sustainable, regernative and seasonal growing. We don't import, so the stock on the website and at the gardens fluctuates with the seasons. We try and have plants available all year-round, but we don't force anything on artificially.
