Choose Your Experience

  • Horse logging with Toby Hoad at Carey’s Secret Garden, showcasing the traditional technique of using horses to move timber, with hands-on experiences available for visitors.

    Sustainable Woodlands

    Spend the day with Toby Hoad, our knowledgeable woodsman. Start the day with a short talk on how to maintain healthy woodlands and the importance of
    sustainable forestry. After break spend time with Toby’s horses as he demonstrates
    the importance of horse logging techniques in managing woodlands. After lunch
    learn the basics of coppicing and harvest fresh willow and learn willow weaving techniques with local artist Aisling Lock.

    Fantastic Fungi

    Half Day:
    Begin with a short talk from Andy Knott on the importance of native fungi, followed by a hands-on log drilling session. Each participant will create their own mushroom log to take home.

    Full Day:
    The full-day experience includes the morning workshop plus a fungi-themed pizza lunch, topped with your choice of mushrooms. In the afternoon, join a guided foraging walk to identify mushroom species in the wild and learn about the fascinating variety of fungi found at Careys Secret Garden.

    Wild Skies

    Spend the day at Carey with the Wild team. Starts with a bird ringing
    session to get up close with birds in the hand. After break take a walk with our team to learn the
    basics of bird ID both by sight and call. After lunch take an Osprey tour to hear about
    how Careys played an instrumental role in rewilding the skies with Birds of Poole
    Harbour.

    Garden Secrets

    Learn about gardening with wildlife with our team. Start
    with a tour of the gardens and history. After break take part in a seasonal garden based activity where you will work as part of the garden team. After lunch enjoy a guided seed
    sowing and compost workshop – learn about the importance and techniques of
    sowing seeds and creating healthy soils.

    Wild Wellness

    Built to give small teams a chance to rest and connect with nature.
    Begin your day with a yoga session either in the gardens or on our wellness
    platform. After break take some time wandering the gardens or joining a mindful
    drawing session in the barn, followed by a light lunch. After lunch take a forest bathing or wild
    walk in nature absorbing the wonder of the wider estate.

Pricing

From £200 per person for full day, £100 per person for half day. Includes; facilitated training experience, nature-based learning and team activities, all training materials. Group Size 5-30. Larger groups POA. Refreshments and Garden Tours extra, please see below.
