Discover the fascinating world of bats on a magical guided evening walk at Careys Secret Garden.

7pm Start - 9.15pm (approx.)

As dusk falls over the beautiful Careys estate, join our bat expert for an unforgettable evening exploring one of Britain's most misunderstood and remarkable mammals.

The experience begins with a 30–40 minute talk, where you'll learn about the different species of bats found in the UK, their vital role in our ecosystems, and the conservation work helping to protect them. You'll also be introduced to professional bat monitoring equipment, that allow you to hear the echolocation calls bats use to navigate and hunt.

Once the sun has set, we'll head out on a guided walk around the Careys estate, listening for bat calls and, with a little luck, spotting bats in flight as they emerge to feed. Our expert will help identify different species and explain their behaviour as you experience nature coming alive after dark.

This bat walk offers a rare opportunity to observe, and understand, these incredible nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat.

What to Expect

If the weather is stormy or heavy rain on the date scheduled, we may ask guests to move to an alternative date if possible.

What to bring: Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear, and bring a torch. The walk will continue in low light after sunset.
