The Secret Fungi Festival returns to Careys Secret Garden this October for three days of fungi, food, foraging, talks, workshops, demonstrations, live music, family activities and our vibrant fungi marketplace, all tucked away within our 3.5-acre walled garden in the Dorset countryside.
Whether you’re a seasoned mycophile, a curious forager, a keen gardener or simply someone who wants to discover what’s going on beneath our feet, there’s plenty to explore.

Important: Please book your Festival Admission first

EVERY guest attending the Secret Fungi Festival needs a Festival Admission Ticket.

This applies whether you are joining us for:

Friday • Saturday Daytime • Saturday Evening • Saturday Day & Evening • Sunday • or the Full Weekend

Your Festival Admission Ticket gives you access to the garden and the main festival programme for the period shown on your ticket.

Not sure which day to choose? Scroll through the images to take a look at our Festival Map and proposed Programme of Events, giving you a taste of what’s happening across the weekend and helping you choose the best day (or days!) to visit. Please note that the programme is still evolving and timings and activities are subject to change.

Some workshops, forays and certain special experiences are booked separately and are an additional cost on top of Festival Admission (these are marked with £ on the programme)

Booking a workshop, foray or other add-on does NOT give you admission to the festival. If you arrive without an admission ticket, you will be charged at the gate. 

The one exception: Saturday Evening's Foraged Feast hosted by Urban Forage

If you book the Foraged Feast on Saturday evening, your festival evening admission is INCLUDED with your Feast ticket. You do not need to purchase an additional admission ticket for the period covered by the Feast.

For all other workshops, forays and pre-bookable activities, you must also have the appropriate Festival Admission Ticket.

Discover medicinal mushrooms, fungal networks and communication, edible wild fungi, beginner mycology and the extraordinary role fungi play in our ecosystems.

Forays, Workshops & Demonstrations
Get hands-on with mushroom cultivation, wild food, foraging, mycoremediation, nature crafts and more. Some of these experiences have limited spaces and require an additional pre-booked ticket.

The Fungi Marketplace
Meet growers, makers, artists and producers and discover fungi-inspired products, gifts and curiosities.

Seasonal Food & Drink
Expect warming autumnal food and drink with local, seasonal and foraged ingredients taking centre stage.

Music & Festival Atmosphere
Explore the garden, discover something unexpected and soak up the atmosphere of this wonderfully unusual autumn weekend.

Art, Nature & Creativity
Look out for fungi-inspired installations, demonstrations and creative activities dotted throughout the Secret Garden.

Family Activities
There’ll be plenty for younger fungi fans too, with nature trails, storytelling, crafts and opportunities to discover the amazing natural world around them.

We’ll be adding more pre-bookable workshops and activities as they’re confirmed, so please check back before the festival to see what’s new.

There will also be opportunities to book workshops and activities directly with their hosts during the festival, subject to availability.

Please remember: some workshop and activity tickets are in addition to your Festival Admission Ticket unless specifically stated otherwise.

Good to know

There is no on-site camping at Careys Secret Garden.

Due to the nature of the site, we can only welcome registered assistance/service dogs in their working uniform.

Tickets will be sent by email, so please check your spam or junk folder if they don’t appear in your inbox. Detailed directions to our rather well-hidden Secret Garden will be included with your booking confirmation.
