Scenting the Lost Folk: An Evening with Simon Constantine & Lally Macbeth

Join us for a unique, immersive evening with writer/folklorist Lally Macbeth, author of The Lost Folk and perfumer Simon Constantine.
Inspired by historic fairs and markets once found across Britain, Lally will guide us through the stories, rituals, and characters tied to these lost traditions, and explore how new folk culture continues to emerge today. In collaboration with Lally, Simon has crafted a series of original fragrances that capture the sensory world of these gatherings — smoky whiskey barrels, boozy toffee apples, floral garlands and wild revelry.
From scent to story, this event invites you to rediscover the magic of what was — the seasonal, communal, handmade and mysterious — brought vividly to life through perfume and storytelling.
The event will be hosted by artist/ curator Matthew Shaw who, along with Lally, co-founded Stone Club. Stone Club was set up as a place for stone enthusiasts to congregate to muse and most importantly to stomp to stones connecting to ancient sites through community and conversation.
