Irreplaceable: passages and soundscapes with Julian Hoffman & Matthew Shaw

During the summer of 2019, friends of Careys Secret Garden, author Julian Hoffman and musician and sound recordist Matthew Shaw, walked from the town of Christchurch, Dorset, to the coastline of Hengistbury Head.

The result? A beautiful podcast where we are delighted with readings by Julian from his recent publication Irreplaceable; a love letter to the landscapes around us and timely reminder of how vital our connection with nature is, what we stand to lose, and stories of what can happen when people come together to defend our most special places. Julian’s readings are blended with stunning soundscapes, recorded by Matthew, from moments where they sought and found connective links from his passages to their immediate surroundings - recording when the moment felt right in the field.
